Privacy Policy
Norah Studio for Mac, iPhone and iPad · effective 15 October 2026
Norah Studio collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no advertising, no tracking of any kind. The app makes no network connections of its own.
What data is collected, and how
None. Norah Studio has no sign-in, no user profile and no server behind it. It does not read your contacts, your location, your other files, your microphone or your identifiers, and it contains no analytics or advertising frameworks. There is no collection to describe, because there is no collection.
This is the same answer given in the App Store's own privacy questionnaire, where every category is marked Data Not Collected.
Your audio never leaves your device
Separation runs entirely on your own Mac, iPhone or iPad. Both models — Demucs for the separation, Beat This! for the bar grid — are embedded inside the app and signed with it, and run on the device's own processors; the tempo, key, chords and sections are worked out on the device too. No audio file, no fragment of one, and nothing derived from one is ever uploaded, transmitted or shared with us or with anybody else.
Third parties
The app shares no data with anyone, because it collects none. The app bundles no third-party analytics, advertising or attribution code, and sends nothing to any third-party service. The only third party involved at all is Apple, and only for the purchase (below). The two third parties this website involves — the company that hosts it and the one that carries our email — are described under this website and writing to us further down.
What is stored on your device, and for how long
Everything below stays on your device, in the app's own storage, and none of it is ever transmitted.
Your projects. Each song you open becomes a project on the app's home screen. A project keeps a reference to where the song's file is — not a copy of it — together with its title and artist, a small copy of its cover picture, and your pitch, tempo, loop, mix and effect settings, so the song reopens where you left it. Never the audio and never the separated tracks. Removing a project from the home screen deletes all of this; the song's own file is not touched.
Working files. The separated tracks are written to a temporary folder in the app's caches. On a Mac they are deleted when you quit Norah Studio. On an iPhone or iPad, where the system can close an app in the background without warning, the working files of your most recent songs are kept so that reopening one does not separate it again: at most eight songs and 1.5 GB, always leaving at least 1 GB of your storage free, the oldest deleted first. The system may also clear them itself when it needs the space.
Songs shared to the app. On an iPhone or iPad, a song that another app shares or drops into Norah Studio as a copy (from Mail, a chat or AirDrop, for example) is kept in the app's own folder in the Files app, under Norah Studio, where you can see it, move it or delete it. A song opened from Files is read where it is and never copied.
Two small records. An anonymous fingerprint of each different song you have separated — a short code worked out from the file, not its name, its location or any of its sound — so the app knows when the five free songs have been used; and whether Norah Studio Pro has been bought.
Files you export go exactly where you choose to put them, or into the app you drag them to, and nothing else is written anywhere. All of the above is kept for as long as the app is installed, except the working files as described.
This website
These pages are static files. They set no cookies and contain no scripts, and the site's security policy stops browsers from running any. They load nothing from anybody else's server, and carry no analytics or tracking of any kind. Nothing on them identifies you.
The pages are hosted by Netlify, and, like every web server, theirs records the technical details of each request — IP address, time, page requested, browser version — as part of serving the site and keeping it up. We do not use those logs to build profiles and we do not combine them with anything else. That log is the only processing this website does, and its lawful basis is our legitimate interest in delivering and securing the pages (article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Writing to us
If you write to info@uriocallaghan.com we process what you send — your email address, your name if you sign it, and whatever you tell us — for the single purpose of answering you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us, and, where your message concerns a purchase, the performance of that relationship (article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The mailbox is hosted by Hostinger, which stores the messages on our behalf and does nothing else with them.
Support messages are kept for twelve months from the last reply and are then deleted, unless a message forms part of a legal claim, in which case it is kept until the claim is closed. Nothing you write is used for marketing, shared with anyone, or put to any other purpose.
Deleting your data, and withdrawing consent
The app itself holds no personal data of yours to access, correct, export or erase, because
it collects none and nothing reaches us. A project is deleted by removing it from the home screen. On a Mac, everything
the app stores is removed by deleting the app along with its container, or by moving
~/Library/Containers/com.norahstudio.app to the Trash. On an iPhone or iPad, deleting the
app removes all of it, including the working files and the songs kept in its Files folder. No consent is requested by the
app, so there is none to withdraw; stopping all processing is a matter of quitting the app.
Your rights
For the two things above that do involve personal data — this site's server log and any email you send us — you have the rights the GDPR gives you: to ask what we hold, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to info@uriocallaghan.com and you will have an answer within one month.
The data controller is Oriol O'Callaghan, whose full identification details are in the legal notice. There is no automated decision-making and no profiling of any kind. We transfer nothing anywhere ourselves. Our mail provider is established in the European Union; our host, Netlify, is a United States company, so the request log it keeps on our behalf may be processed there, under the standard contractual clauses in its own data processing terms.
If you think your data has been handled badly you can complain to the Spanish supervisory authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, or to the authority of the EU country you live in.
Purchases
Norah Studio Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple takes the payment, and Apple's own privacy policy covers that transaction. The app asks the system — macOS, iOS or iPadOS — whether a valid purchase exists and receives nothing back but yes or no. We never see your name, your email address, your Apple Account or your payment details, and no purchase information is sent anywhere by us.
Children
Nothing is collected from anybody, so nothing is collected from children. The app is not directed at children and has no social, messaging or user-generated content features.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the new version appears on this page with a new effective date. A change that materially affects you would also be noted in the app's release notes.
