Terms of Use
Norah Studio for Mac, iPhone and iPad · effective 15 October 2026
These are the terms of use for Norah Studio, an application for Mac, iPhone and iPad published by Oriol O'Callaghan. Downloading or using the app means accepting them.
The licence to use the app is Apple's: Norah Studio is supplied under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which is the end user licence agreement for this app. The terms on this page sit alongside it and cover what the standard agreement does not — what the app does, the audio you open in it, the free songs, and what Norah Studio Pro costs and how it renews. Where anything here disagrees with Apple's standard agreement about the licence itself, Apple's wording wins.
What the app does
Norah Studio takes an audio file you already have and separates it into vocals, drums and instrumental, and works out the bars. All of it happens on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. The app does not download, stream, record or convert audio from YouTube, Spotify or any other service: you open a file that is already on your device.
Your audio, and your right to it
You are responsible for holding the rights to any audio you open in Norah Studio. Use it on your own recordings, on material you are licensed to use, or on material in the public domain. Separating a track gives you no right to it that you did not already have, and what you do with the result is yours to answer for. We never see your files, so we cannot police this and do not try to.
Five songs free
The first five songs are free. The app counts distinct songs rather than separations: reopening a song you have already separated costs nothing. After five songs, carrying on requires Norah Studio Pro, which unlocks unlimited songs and is sold in two forms.
There is no other difference between them, and no free trial is offered. Prices are shown in euros and may differ in other regions — the price displayed in the app at the moment of purchase is the one that applies.
Norah Studio for Mac, iPhone and iPad is one app on the App Store, and either plan covers all three: bought on one, it unlocks the others when you are signed in with the same Apple Account.
Payment, renewal and cancellation
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. The sale itself is made by Apple, not by us: for buyers in Europe the seller of record is Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Ireland. Your contract of sale is with Apple, and Apple's Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions govern it. Your contract for the use of the app is with us, and it is this page and Apple's licence agreement.
If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom you have a fourteen-day right of withdrawal on a purchase of digital content. Because Apple is the seller, you exercise it against Apple. Note that the right is lost once you start using content you have asked to have delivered immediately — which is what buying Norah Studio Pro does, since it unlocks straight away — so in practice Apple handles these as refund requests.
The monthly subscription renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least twenty-four hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within twenty-four hours before the end of each period, at the same €7.99 per month unless we have told you of a change beforehand.
You can manage the subscription, and turn auto-renewal off, at any time in your account settings. On a Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings › Subscriptions. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Or go straight to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; it does not refund a period already paid for.
When a subscription ends, whether you cancel it or a payment fails, Norah Studio keeps working and returns to the free tier. Nothing is deleted and nothing is locked away: the app, your exported files and anything already on your device are untouched. What you get back is whatever part of the five free songs you had not used before subscribing — songs separated while Pro was active do not count against them, but the free five do not start again either. Resubscribing, or buying the lifetime version, restores unlimited songs immediately.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
The one-time purchase does not renew and is not a subscription. Lifetime means for as long as Norah Studio exists and runs on your Mac, iPhone or iPad; it is not a promise that any particular future version, feature or operating system will be supported.
Restoring a purchase
The purchase screen has a Restore purchases button. Use it on a new Mac, iPhone or iPad, on another of your devices, or after reinstalling, to recover a purchase made with the same Apple Account.
Privacy
Norah Studio collects nothing and sends nothing anywhere. The Privacy Policy says so in full, and forms part of these terms.
What we do not promise
Norah Studio is provided as it is. Source separation is a statistical process: results vary with the recording, and no particular quality, accuracy or speed is guaranteed. We do not promise that the app is free of faults, or that it will keep working after an operating system update.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss of data, loss of profit, or other indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are untouched by these terms.
Acceptable use
Do not decompile, reverse engineer or redistribute the app or the models inside it beyond what the law and the relevant licences permit. The separation and beat models are third-party works under the MIT licence, and their copyright notices travel inside the app.
Apple's position in all this
Norah Studio is distributed through the App Store. The points below are already part of Apple's standard licence agreement, and are repeated here so that everything you need is on one page. It is standard wording and it appears in the terms of every app sold there.
This agreement is with us, not with Apple
These terms are between you and Oriol O'Callaghan alone. Apple is not a party to them. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Norah Studio and its content.
Scope of the licence
Apple's standard agreement grants you a non-transferable licence to use Norah Studio on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules set out in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
Maintenance and support
We are solely responsible for any maintenance and support for Norah Studio. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to provide any maintenance or support services for it.
Warranty
We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they have not been effectively disclaimed. If Norah Studio fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our sole responsibility.
Product claims
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims from you or any third party relating to Norah Studio or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
Intellectual property
If a third party claims that Norah Studio, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
Legal compliance
You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Third-party terms
You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using Norah Studio.
Apple as third-party beneficiary
Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Upon your acceptance of them, Apple has the right — and is deemed to have accepted the right — to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
